Mind Springs Health Joins Vail Health on Eagle County Behavioral Health Transformation

Early initiative – Training Mental Health First Aid Trainers

We are proud to be a core team member of the new Eagle County Behavioral Health initiative, led by Vail Health’s generous investment over the next 10 years.

Private and public partners are collaborating to transform the behavioral health landscape in the county and Mind Springs Health looks forward to playing an important part in the significant fundraising effort as well as service delivery, education and training.

Although the official county behavioral health organization is still in the formative stages, we have started working with our Eagle County partners to provide an Adult Mental Health First Aid Trainer course, with the goal of certifying bi-lingual attendees who can then provide Mental Health First Aid courses in multiple languages.

The Eagle County training will be held July 29-31 at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards CO.

This ‘train the trainer’ event follows in the successful footsteps of a similarly collaborately-funded Pitkin County effort. 27 individuals graduated from a 3-day program held on Colorado Mountain College’s Aspen campus as certified trainers of Mental Health First Aid courses.

Aspen Skiing Company’s Caring for Community Fund, Aspen Valley Hospital, Pitkin County Healthy Community Fund, City of Aspen & Aspen School District combined to cover the $2250 course feel for each of the graduates. With each trainer required to hold 3 training sessions per year and with an average attendance of 30 per session, that means that nearly 2,500 hundred people in Pitkin County can take this life-saving program this year.

Thanks to the generosity of the Katz Amsterdam Charitable Trust and Foundation additional train the trainer programs are also scheduled for Breckenridge in August and Keystone in October.
