First-Episode Psychosis

It is often in the teen years or early adulthood that a young person experiences their initial episode of psychosis. Symptoms can include:

  • Withdrawing from friends and family
  • Exhibiting disorganized speech and erratic behavior
  • Hearing or seeing things that others do not
  • Feeling fearful or suspicious of others
  • Having thoughts or beliefs that appear strange

Through the ASCENT program in Grand Junction, adolescents 15 and older, who have experienced their first episode of psychosis, can receive help.
