For Children, Teens & Families

Our kids & teens are experiencing more mental distress and higher rates of suicide than ever before. From excessive screen usage to bullying, the world can be a dangerous place for them, and they & their parents need skills to navigate it. We teach those skills.

As digital natives, TeleHealth (secure & confidential video-based) therapy can be a popular & appropriate choice for some kids & teens.

FIRST-EPISODE PSYCHOSIS

is an initial episode of psychosis that affects the mind, blurring reality and can show itself any time between youth and early adulthood.  Symptoms include:

  • withdrawing from friends and family
  • exhibiting disorganized speech and erratic behavior
  • hearing or seeing things that others do not
  • feeling fearful or suspicious of others
  • having thoughts or beliefs that appear strange

Recognizing the signs and symptoms early can provide the best hope for recovery and seeking out treatment can be difficult for someone going through it.  They may need your help, as if left untreated, these thoughts, feelings and behaviors can become worse over time.  If someone you know is experiencing the beginning signs and symptoms, the ASCENT program in our Grand Junction office can help.

ASCENT is a holistic approach to mental wellness, supporting kids age 15 and up who are experiencing troubling thoughts and/or the onset of psychosis.  For more information or to make a referral, contact our Grand Junction office at 970.241.6023.
